Stop the racist EDL in Bolton
Chorlton Coach 8.30am Saturday 20th March
The English Defence League (EDL) — a group of racist thugs and football hooligans with links to the Nazi BNP — intend to march in Bolton on 20th March to whip up race hatred against Muslims. These thugs spread fear and terror when they rampaged through Luton and Stoke recently. They smashed cars, attacked shops and assaulted Asians. When some locals tried to stop them they were called ‘race traitors’ and were attacked.
Racist attacks on Muslim graves at Southern Cemetery coincided with the EDL’s last visit to Manchester. Two local youths have been now been charged with racially aggravated criminal damage.’
Unite Against Fascism has called a national protest rally against the EDL in Bolton, and is mobilising from Dover to Dundee taking people to stand with, and to help protect the Muslim community and the people of Bolton. A peaceful, legal rally has been agreed and organised.
All of our local MP’s, Gerald Kaufman, John Leech, Beverley Hughes, Tony Lloyd, Graham Stringer have signed the Bolton Unity Statement which says:
'Let’s protest against the racists and fascists, oppose their politics of hatred and defend Bolton’s diverse and united community. We call on everyone to support and attend the protest against the EDL in Bolton on 20th March.'
Among those on the Chorlton coach to Bolton is a local pensioner who says, ‘When the Nazis dropped bombs on Manchester in 1941 it did not push us out. A group of Nazi thugs in Bolton wont either’. He will be joined by local school students, and parents. They will make up the safe heart at the centre of the protest in Victoria Square, in Bolton.
Mr. Mohammed Shafiq, of the Ramadam Foundation, says that ‘the vast majority of the Muslim community stand with you’. All the main Trades Unions are sending people and banners, as are the Student Unions. Together we all make up the real face of ‘England’
