No to the English Defence League in Bolton! No to racism! No to fascism!
The racist EDL have re-arranged their Bolton protest for Saturday 20th March. It is vital that all an
ti-fascist groups build now to get as many people there as possible on 20th March. If you are coming from the North West, please aim to be in the centre of Bolton for 9am. If you are coming from beyond the North West, please plan to join us by 11am. Further info to follow.
The English Defence League (EDL) — a group of racist thugs and football hooligans with links to the Nazi BNP — intend to marching on Bolton on 20th March to whip up race hatred against Asians. These thugs spread fear and terror when they rampaged through Luton and Stoke recently. They smashed cars, attacked shops and assaulted Asians. When some locals tried to stop them they were called ‘race traitors’ and attacked.

Don’t believe the EDL’s lies when it claims to be a ‘peaceful’ group opposed to “Muslim extremism”. It is nothing of the sort. The EDL is a group of violent bigots that wants to intimidate and attack all ethnic minorities. They should not be allowed to march in Bolton! Join our protest to show these racists and fascists that they are not welcome here! The protest is called by Unite Against Fascism (UAF)
One of the Bolton MPs has said that the EDL are the “Boot Boys of the BNP”. He’s right. But if we were to ignore them – as he also says - we would be wrong. Unite Against Fascism exists to work with everyone – including MPs - to expose the messages of hate and acts of violence promoted by groups like the BNP and EDL for what they are. It would be a fundamental mistake to think that you can ignore the threat that these people represent. While some of us may be in a position to choose to ignore them in the short term, others are being attacked by them. Try ignoring that – it simply does not work. History proves it, NEVER FORGET.

Bolton NUT have learned that lesson. Committing themselves that they “will not allow our children to be divided on the grounds of race or religion”, their AGM on 2nd February voted overwhelmingly to support our National Demonstration in Bolton on Saturday 6th March. Let us fill Bolton town centre with our message of hope, unity and solidarity:
